It is not necessary to be an athlete to know that how much it is important to keep our body hydrated properly and recognize signs of trouble. A very famous urologist suggest some precaution during hot and sweaty weather. A summary of these tips is as follows:

1. You need to know if you are usually hydrated or not:

Being under hydrated is common among endurance gamers, so it is necessary that you consider the possibility of being under hydrated. There are many factors associated with hydration or dehydration for example amount of water, protein, workout, kidney condition, age, etc.

2. You need to drink water every 15 minutes while working out

Every person should drink two liters of water per day, (about 64oz) for good hydration. If you are endurance gamer, then you should drink 4 to 6oz  additional water every 15 mins of the workout.

3. You need to determine what your urine is telling you

The color of urine gives a good guess about hydration or under hydration. The color should always be pale yellow. Moreover, you should also consider how many times you pee. After work, if you are not peeing too much and color of urine is dark yellow then you are not properly hydrated. A young person urinates about six times a day.

4. If you are hydrated, you can take extra protein

Taking protein as a supplement is not wrong, but along with supplement proper hydration is very essential. If you take a supplement and don’t hydrate protein properly can put a load on kidneys. Even if it is anima protein, taking it too much and not hydrating properly can put too much burden on kidneys.

5. Get your Kidneys Checked

Before taking protein and starting endurance exercises, you should get a general physical checkup. And after starting exercise, this checkup should be at least every other year, especially routine blood tests that look at kidney function. If the kidney is normal, then it is fine to take protein supplement with proper hydration. This would be helpful in repairing and building muscles. But if the kidney is not working perfectly, then taking protein means to put an additional burden on the organ. There are many kidney diseases which are symptomless.

6. Kidney store are something to worry about later in life

Kidney stone are common in old age, are rare, but not worried about, in young age. In young person’s kidney stone may be due to improper hydration, too much animal protein, salty food or diuretic abuse. Until the 30s you don’t need to see a urologist, but after 40s especially the natural buffer of humans change so you need to be very cautious about urine.

7. Choose plain water over sports drinks

A sports drink is full of energy nutrients and extra salts. Although sports drinks are very helpful and beneficial over plain water, sports water is beneficial in replacing amino acids and electrolytes after a hectic workout. But even after endurance workout out body does not need as much salt as it contains. However, after a marathon or something similar, it is ok to take sports drink. Even after taking sports drink water is prime important. Most of the human body fluids come from water and any other food, a rich source of water cannot replace water, not even juices, coffee, iced tea, etc.
